1. The child has been a member of the Fishtown Athletic Club
during the past twelve months prior to the submission of an application for
scholarship.

2. The child has maintained a minimum grade point average of
85 out of 100* (or its equivalent) for the two years immediately preceding his
or her application for a scholarship.

After months of hashing and re-hashing on the subject, the FAC Alumni staff
has voted to approve the lowering of the minimum grade on the scholarship
applications from 90 to 85. The results of the staff voting was 4 in favor and
2 opposed. Therefore, due to the majority vote, the proposal has been
approved and will become an amendment to the FAC Alumni scholarship
application process.
Note: The grades must be a minimum of 85 in EACH of the last 2 school years.
If either year is below 85, then the applicant has NOT met the new
guidelines.
3. The child produces a character
refernce on letterhead paper from the principal or head of his or her present
school, one of his or her present teachers, or a coach for a team on which he or
she is playing or has played. The character reference
must
state that to the best knowledge of the person making the reference, the child
is drug-free and has not been adjudged
delinquent.PLEASE Take
note:We have had a number of applications disqualified. Because
the person (coach, teacher exc.) writing a letter on behalf of the child was
never told that the
"Drug-Free" was to be apart of his or her
letter.
4. The child is a student in or has accepted an offer to attend
an accredited private high school, parochial high school, university, or trade
school and seeks the scholship to cover part of the tuition for the accredited
private high school, parochial, college, university, or trade school during the
next school year.
Guidelines up Graded
Amendment #1 November 13, 1996 ~ Students entering grades seven
(7) and up, including high school students and college students are welcome to
apply long as they carried a 85 average the last two academic years. This makes
two additional classes eligible to apply.
5. The child and his/her
parents or guardians have the responsibility to obtain the documents necessary
to show that the child meets the minimum requirements described
above.
The Alumni Association intends the scholarship in a given year to
be of equal amounts. Thus, the Alumni Association will divide the funds
available by the number of applicants. And can give as many as five awards a
year. The Alumni Association deems qualified to receive scholarships and the
quotient becomes the amount of the scholarship for each successful applicant for
that year.
6. The Alumni Association will pay the scholarship directly to
the school or reimburse the parents or guardians of the qualified child upon
proof that the parents or guardians have paid the tuition to the
school.
